Support for Families Facing Serious Illness In memory of Shirel Sigalit bat Mordechai Aharon Bergman
Shirel, a”h, was a young woman with a big heart and a deep love for the Jewish people.
She passed away at the age of 26½ after battling cancer.
Her family had been active supporters of Ezrat Achim’s chesed work for many years. After experiencing firsthand the crisis of a family member’s illness, they saw the critical need for holistic support for families during this time—and asked Ezrat Achim to establish such a program in Shirel’s memory.
When a family is suffering from a medical crisis, they need so much more than just actual medical guidance and treatment. As they struggle with the emotional and financial fallout, communal support is crucial. The right support offered at the right time can make all the difference — between feeling that they are floundering alone, and having the strength to cope.
The Yad Shirel – Ezrat Achim Volunteer Network was established to provide comprehensive and compassionate assistance to families dealing with illness – giving them the support they need to get through their crisis.
We all are aware that there are people in our community whose lives are very challenging, due to a medical issue or because they have a special needs child. Sometimes you meet them in the neighborhood and know they are struggling and wish there was a way you could help, but you’re not sure how. Please partner with Ezrat Achim by donating or becoming a volunteer and help make a real difference. Families helping families…it’s what Ezrat Achim is all about!
